Clinical dream interpretation often utilizes concepts representation, analogy and identity in order to make sense of what we experience within them. This interpellation often helps the dreamer find emotional comfort, but may impede deeper exploration of the unknown. Analogy stifles the revelation of novel connections necessary for the emancipation of desire.

Clamping down in the hypnagogic micro-seconds of awakening is usually not enough to keep the dream doors open. Some forms of recording - usually vocal or written - allow us to access the dream content at a later time. But note that the re-called dream and the re-corded dream are already doubly interpreted experiences.

For a more playful examination of dreaming, we must characterize our recall better as a bricolage. The content gains coding legibility from other content rather than through placement within a symbolic order. Within all movements towards representative capture are alternative paths, and cooperation and alliance with these pockets lead us into worlds where rupture is potent.

Discrete meaning is too often the dominating force of interpretation. It forces life into a perspective. Expression is better found in reflecting on the ever changing shape of the dream that is molded. By shifting to the functional trajectory of the dream, interpretation can include intuitive visual expression and reflection on what mundanity our neural geometry produces. What escapes legibility yet inheres may reveal deliriment as an essential element in play.
